NIGHT WALK

Experience the Arenal wild frog sanctuary at night, when colorful tree frogs and other rainforest wildlife are most active and easiest to spot. At least 28 frog species have made their home in the Arenal Oasis habitat. The Rojas Bonilla family carefully maintains Arenal's native plants to create the ideal habitat for these amphibians within this private wildlife reserve—a rainforest haven that connects the tropical forests of the Arenal Volcano and the Burío River.

The night tour takes you along flat trails immersed in the vibrant sounds of the nocturnal rainforest, where your guide will point out the wildlife hiding in plain sight.

• Recommendations: Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Bring a poncho. Photography is allowed (without flash).
